Why do it?Applying Alexander technique to yoga is beneficial for improving co-ordination and flexibility whilst preventing or rehabilitating injuries. Classes are small so that postures and asanas can be tailored to individual needs. The emphasis is on participants working in co-ordination rather than trying to force their bodies into postures which don’t work for them. Classes are suitable for all ages, abilities and body types and are an excellent way of enhancing other yoga practice. How are the classes run?Classes run with a maximum of 8 people. They’re led by an Alexander technique teacher trained and experienced in applying the Alexander technique to yoga practice. Classes run for between 45mins and 1.5 hours and are taught weekly, generally in 5 week blocks throughout the year. Who teaches them? All teachers are members of the Australian Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique who have completed a three year full time training, and also hold a Diploma in Yoga and Alexander Technique Teaching from The School for F.M. Alexander Studies. Concession prices for students are available for all yoga classes. |
