These small group experiential hands-on classes are for those who want to learn more about how the body is designed to function as a total system in action and to develop their skills of awareness and thinking in activity. Each class will include some theory as well as experiential exercises and teacher guidance to relate the theory to direct life experience. We learn from our own experience and from observing others in a friendly supportive environment. The small group format is adapted from Alexander teacher training courses.
Classes will provide a grounding in human movement, awareness and functional anatomy. They will be an ideal supplement to those taking private lessons in the Alexander Technique. They are also suitable for those who prefer a group teaching experience and can be supplemented by short one-on-one sessions ($20 per 20 minutes).
The following is an indicative syllabus. Classes may vary depending on the prior experience of the participants.
Class 1: Finding dynamic neutral
Class 2: Cultivating quiet
Class 3: Connecting the arms
Class 4: Connecting the legs
Class 5: Cultivating a free breath
